Stosur's next tournament was the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami where she was seeded 9th. Due to her seeding, Stosur received a bye in the first round. She battled from a 6–4 5–3 deficit and was one game away from defeat before coming back to record a 4–6 7–5 6–2 victory against Carla Suárez Navarro. Her third round was also tough, winning in a similar scoreline 4–6 7–5 6–1 against Virginie Razzano.
